- Ski Engelberg
Engelberg
Brief Resort Overview: Engelberg is located in the Swiss at an attitude of 1050m 70 miles Southwest of Zurich.
The ski area rises abruptly from the village on both sides of the main valley which ends in Lake Luzerne.
Engelberg is well known for its revolving cable car which climbs the Titlus mountain.
This is unique in the Alps. Like most Swiss ski resorts the main village is modern with a main shopping street with a few boutique stores.
The village has a pedestrian only zone in the center.
Principal advantages of the resort: This is a quintessential down-to-earth Swiss resort complete with all the Gruyère cheese without the pretentious
complications of St. Moritz and its wan'abe visitors. The town has a very affordable hotel built during the height of the Victorian era when
everything was grandiose. This semi-luxurious has large rooms with high ceilings, many chandeliers and a position overlooking the village yet very
near to Brünni. The town of Luzerne and its lake are nearby; it is possible that non-skiers use Engelberg as a base to explore nearby Swiss towns
such as Zurich, Berne and Lucerne.
